Lattice modular mast
Client: Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA)
A new type of lattice mast, which is going to be installed both in rural areas and on buildings’ roofs, has been designed. It is composed of individual lattice segments, which are connected in height, via splice connections, to construct a lattice mast of a desirable height for each application. This mast, despite its moderate height, required detailed design due to the numerous telephony devices, which will accommodate. The existence of these devices and their random spatial distribution demanded the performance of several analyses, in order to take into account the spatial variation of the wind-induced loads. Furthermore, plentiful schemes have been investigated, so as to derive the most advantageous solution in terms of section shapes, steel strength and individual segments height.
