Aphrodite Pools building will be erected in Dali, a suburb of Nicosia. The ground floor of the building will be operating as a pool center and it accommodates two swimming pools one for adults and one for children, will the mezzanine will be used as a gym area. A steel structural scheme will be implemented for the superstructure, which is composed of a moment resisting frame for the principal direction and an x-diagonal braced fame along the secondary direction. Particular emphasis was placed on the increase of the natural vibration frequencies of the mezzanine’s composite slab (susceptible to synchronized movements), so as mitigate the vibration phenomena and to minimize the fatigue effects on the supporting structural elements.
