Self-supporting pole
Client: Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA)
Project description:
A new type of self-supporting pole, which is going to be installed in rural areas, has been designed. The sensitivity of the pole to P-Δ effects required the execution of multiple nonlinear geometrical analyses. A wide range of loads has been taken into account, comprising the wind, earthquake, live, temperature and icing actions. The pole consists of four structural members interconnected with splice connections. A plethora of scenarios has been explored, in order to determine the optimum solution, thus determine the most profitable combinations of circular hollow sections and steel strength.
