Traditional Dwelling
Architect: Nasso Chrysochou Architects
Size: 350 m²
Project description:
This adobe masonry house, situated at a village of Nicosia District, was abandoned for decades and it has experienced substantial structural degradation due to the unfavorable weathering actions. Hence, the majority of the buildings volume had to be demolished and it was rebuilt, using identical structural and non-structural materials and components. The walls of the rebuilt part were supported by a newly constructed grid of foundation strips. Only the rooms on the frontage of the building were determined as repairable and they were subjected to proper rehabilitation and maintenance. The additions made, such as the fabrication of the swimming pool and the installation of underfloor heating, were performed with respect to the traditional architectural style of the dwelling.
